One of the crazy things about demo'ing a house is what you find underneath. Discoveries you make and things you thought were one way, turn out to be another.
We haven't found anything cool like money, but we've definitely stumbled upon some things that have been eye-opening.
Blue Tile
Remember the ugly blue tile that lined the back fence of the yard? Well, turns out that it was there not only to enhance the stucco, but also to hide the beautiful breezeblock that is hidden underneath!
Breezeblock is a true modern gem in mid-century modern architecture. If you want to learn more about the history and purpose of breezeblocks here is a link: https://www.atomic-ranch.com/architecture-design/all-about-breeze-blocks/
Super excited to see all of this stucco removed and all the original architecture shine through!
Flooring
Turns out one of the reasons the flooring in the home is currently so uneven and sloped is because of the thickness of the tiles used! Maybe it's an Arizona thing, but we've never seen tiles this thick. We are talking well over 1 inch in thickness. Crazy! Once they are all removed leveling the floors will be a much easier task.
Next up, a review of this past weekend's project. Sourcing for materials.
